Different Folks, Different...Pimples

Acne Vulgaris

This is the most common type of acne, and affects almost everyone at some point in their lives. This type of acne is frequently associated with hormonal changes during puberty, childbirth, or other periods in which hormonal levels in the body are changing.

Acne Rosacea

It is most commonly referred to as just "Rosacea", but many people consider it a form of acne. It occurs in adults, and is sometimes confused with other types of acne. Malfunctioning blood vessels are thought to play an important role in rosacea flare-ups. Symptoms include red, irritated skin around the cheeks, eyes, and nose. Cystic Acne

Ever have a painful pimple under your skin that just appears as a red bump? Those little buggers are usually Cystic Acne. For me, these are the worst kind of pimples. They hurt like crazy, but they are under the skin so you can't pop them or put creams on them. Cystic acne occurs when your hair follicle is clogged up, and it bursts beneath the skin. Do not try to pick or pop these. Unlike whiteheads, the pus is beneath your skin. Picking at one of these babies can lead to scarring or infection. Let it heal on its own!
